AI tools for Dungeon Masters who want to stay in charge
You run the table. MacerAI takes the busywork: narration suggestions you can edit, NPCs on demand, battle maps, rules answers, scene images and voice narration, with every player’s sheet synced to their phone.
Creating campaigns needs the Dungeon Master or Hero plan. Players join for free.
The DM Copilot toolkit
Everything sits in the same campaign screen, so you don’t juggle tabs during a session.
Narration suggestions
Ask the AI for the next beat of a scene. Edit it, rewrite it or post it as it is; nothing reaches the players until you send it.
NPCs that talk back
Create a brand-new NPC with a name, relationship and backstory in one click, then let the AI speak as them when the players start asking questions.
AI battle maps
Generate a map, or upload your own, and move player and monster tokens live. Download any map you make.
Rule checker
Ask a 5e-compatible rules question mid-session and get a ruling with the reason, instead of pausing to search a book.
Scene images
Describe a place, creature or moment and show the table a picture of it.
Voice and music
Have your narration read aloud by an AI voice, and switch background music between tavern, battle, dungeon and more.
Write your campaign with AI, not by AI
Prep is where most DMs lose their evenings. MacerAI helps you write the campaign, but you decide what goes in.
Start from your idea
Bring the hook, the villain or just a mood. The AI helps you turn it into lore, places and people, and you edit everything.
Keep lore in one place
Campaign info, lore and NPCs live in the campaign, so the AI’s suggestions during play build on what you already wrote.
Summaries and notes
Let the AI summarise lore and update campaign notes, so last session’s details are there when you need them.
Your players keep everything on their phones
Living character sheets
HP, XP, inventory, spells and rolls stay synced. A player taps a stat to roll and the result appears in the shared chat.
Invite with a code
Players join your campaign with a campaign code. Joining is free on the Adventurer plan.
At the table or online
Use it in person with everyone on their phones, or run the whole game remotely in the browser.
Good to know
You stay the DM
The AI suggests; you decide. In DM Copilot Campaigns it never runs the game on its own.
Plans
Dungeon Master and Hero plans can create campaigns (3 on Dungeon Master, unlimited on Hero). Players only need the free plan to join.
Credits
AI generations such as narration, images, NPCs and voice use credits from your plan. The rule checker is free.
Rules
Built on 5e-compatible rules from the SRD 5.1. MacerAI is independent and not affiliated with Wizards of the Coast.
Nobody wants to DM this week?
Switch to an AI DM adventure: the AI runs the whole game for your group, and everyone plays.
How the AI Dungeon Master worksAI tools for DMs: questions
What does an AI DM assistant do?
It handles the work around the game so you can focus on running it: suggesting narration, creating and voicing NPCs, making battle maps and scene images, answering rules questions and keeping notes. In MacerAI you approve everything before players see it.
Does the AI replace me as the DM?
No. DM Copilot Campaigns are led by a human DM. The AI only suggests and generates when you ask. If you want the AI to run the game instead, use an AI DM adventure.
Can the AI write my campaign?
It helps you write it. You bring the idea and the AI drafts lore, places and NPCs with you; you edit and decide what stays. It is a writing partner, not a one-click campaign generator.
Can I use my own maps?
Yes. Upload your own map image or generate one with AI, place player and monster tokens, and download any map you make.
Do my players need to pay?
No. Players join your campaign with a code on the free Adventurer plan. You need the Dungeon Master or Hero plan to create the campaign.
Does it work for in-person games?
Yes. Players keep their character sheets on their phones and roll from them, while you run the session from your device.
Is it only for D&D 5e?
The rules support is 5e-compatible (SRD 5.1). Narration, NPC, map, image and voice tools work for any setting, from fantasy to sci-fi and horror.
